“ One if the Most authentic Hawaiian food in the main land. Kalbi ribs, kalua pork and shrimp was delicious. Spam musubi was so good! So into the food missed taking pics but sides were ricas! ”
“ I had the 2 meat combo, bang shrimp and teriyaki chicken. I would of preferred the bang shrimp sauce on the side. But overall delicious. ”
“ Went for a lunch date today after reading such positive reviews, and I’m so happy we did! The employees are so friendly, meals are delicious & cooked to perfection, and the portions are great for the price. If you’re looking for delicious Hawaiian BBQ, I highly recommend Solid Grindz! ”
“ Great food located inside a neighborhood tavern. Solid Grindz serves up tasty Bang Bang Shrimp, Teriyaki Chicken and a number of other Hawaiian delights. It's so good that I drive down from Chandler for lunch! Thanks Tap! ”
“ Representing Hawaii right here! My wife and I just relocated from the island of Kauai, Hawaii and I've been craving for some good local grinds. I previously went to another establishment touting to be "Hawaiian" food, but was sorely disappointed. I won't mention names here, but you can look at my past reviews and see! A tried and true local Hawaiian dish is the Spam Musubi. It isn't simply putting a piece of fried spam on some rice and wrapping it in nori. Real musubi is marinated in a sweet sauce and Solid Grindz gets the gold star for this because not only do they cook it in the sauce, but they provide a little cup with it on the side. This is a first for me and I loved it! Plus to get 3 for 5 is incredible. For me another true test of Hawaiian flavor is Kalbi. I normally don't eat Kalbi unless I cook it because I like more leaner cuts of meat, but I gave it a try and the flavor exploded in my mouth or as us locals like to say "broke da mouth!" haha My wife had the teriyaki chicken and it was delicious. I had to meet the owner and tell them how happy I was to find my new local restaurant here in Tucson and I found out that it is a husband and wife team along with an aunty that make up the management of Solid Grindz. Their philosophy is to keep it small and personal and I appreciate that. Because they get so busy during the week they don't serve loco mocos and only make it on Saturday, so it looks like we'll be making a visit this Saturday too! Mahalo from this braddah missing the islands... ”
“ First time here. Was craving teriyaki chicken after about a three year withdrawal. The Tuna Mac salad is so light, creamy and delicate. The biggest surprise! Steamed veg was only broccoli, the only minor disappointment (maybe offer a medley). The chicken and rice were exceptional. Excellent char and umami flavor in the chicken. Rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly. The entire order was also a large portion with a third/added side. With a tip, was around 20 and yielded two large meals out of it. Excellent value! The place was doing great business the few minutes I was waiting, and the menu has a lot of great options and combinations. Located in a nice, dive bar. A surprise gem in SE Tucson! Definitely will be back! ”
“ Best local kine food in Tucson. Simple menu so everything is good. Large and small portions. Their hours are a small window but worth it. Staff is always friendly. ”
“ Oh my goodness! It was pay day, so I had to treat myself and I ordered the mix plate. The Kalbi is always delicious; the bang shrimp is banging; rice is always sticky and fresh; the staff is courteous, efficient and have a great vibe. Just the best meal I could have ever had! The hours are now posted in the window, so I’ll make sure I snap a picture because I usually crave them and they’re not on base. But when I see the truck... I’m so happy! Definitely order a meal or three from them! I didn’t take pictures because I had to eat and do my happy dance... ”
